Boating Rules and Information
Take a minute and review the rules. If you have friends coming to the area, be sure they know the rules. If you rent to people who use the lake, make sure a copy of the rules are posted where they can be seen. There may be a few rules you don’t always exactly remember. For example: No person operating a motorboat that is towing persons engaged in water skiing, aquaplaning or similar activity may operate the motorboat within 100 feet of any occupied anchored boat, or any personal watercraft or any marked swimming area or public boat landing. Also, the “No Wake” rule is in effect all year from 7:30 PM to 10 AM. And not many of us realize that the traffic level on the lake, as well as the size of the boats involved, has been steadily increasing on Elkhart Lake. Larger boats, drawing deeper in the water, create more potential for wave action causing shoreline erosion.
We have a great lake! We want to be sure we keep it that way – clean and safe.
